Cycline3 SCD History
A little history— back in the day, on Windows 95, iTunes didn't exist. Winamp wasn't a giant. Windows Media Player wasn't a media player. Small media apps ruled and SCD was one of them.
Literally, and I mean literally, millions of copies of SCD software were distributed - over 1000 a day from the website and in numerous shareware/software magazines and CDs. It was RIDICULOUS and it ran well on a Pentium 100Mhz machine — and flew on a Pentium 233Mhz with MMX.
Considering the time and technology around, the software was amazing. Looking at it today, it looks dated. Because it is dated... a Windows 2000 server crash and no development have left it in it's former glory. It's still here for the occasional superfan, or someone looking for a fast media player for an old Pentium based car computer project. That said, we did what people said at the time could not be done — create a skinable and shape shifting, visualizer laden media player (in Visual Basic no less!) It ran in 4.5MB of RAM and did it's super groovy thing. Now, a picture from your digital camera takes up more memory. Oh well, things come and go... so what exactly does it do?

Psychedelic graphics pulsate to the tunes when it's time to kick back to some great tunes. Scalable from a Pentium 100Mhz to the latest 4+ Ghz beasts - this library supports low to high resolution graphics in 8bit, 16bit and 32bit color.
In fact, it's so flexible - it's great for an old pentium based car PC to your latest hardcore gaming PC.
Work Time Graphics Too
Don't have time to sit back and just listen to music? Toss in your favorite CD and use the Windowed Visualizer to keep that office report a little more stimulating.
Low Memory
SCD was originally released in 1996. In order to keep the memory footprint as small as possible, and to maximize the media experience on a Pentium 60Mhz class PC, we created the Optimizer to run external to the main application.
The Optimizer is your gateway to file system
types, preferences and skin selection. And when
you're done, it's gone. No CPU eating cycles,
no memory footprint. If you are using older
hardware, this is the single most valuable
feature over Window Media Player and the like.
Optimized for Windows XP
SCD is written to take full advantage of the new visual styles and advancements in Windows XP while still running on older Windows operating systems.
I Want My Skins!
SCD ships with it's own skin editing tool. Coupled with an image editor like Adobe Photoshop or Paintshop Pro and you are on your way to creating a media player that looks exactly like you want it to.
Round? OK. Transparent? OK. There is no limit
to what you can create. And it's easy and has
simple walk through instructions right in the
editor.
