2008-04-10 — Of Rude Customers on Beautiful Days.... "I demand you give me a refund!! Depsite the fact it says, try before you buy and no refunds issued after purchase of an unlock key! "

Look, I am not a jerk, but I have developed a very keen awareness of customers and since there is only one of me and millions of people who have downloaded my software, art and purchased photos, I can't help everyone. So, rude people don't get service, and nice people do.

That said, it's software, not a lawn mower. If you return your mower to Sears, they have the mower. You cannot return the software, no matter what, you still have an unlocked software program and I have no money. Is that fair? Is that what you mean by "the right thing to do?"

That is why it is spelled out in the license, please try before you buy, because there are no refunds. The software works unimpeded, only with a watermark on the ad saying demo mode. What else can I do to help you evaluate the software before your purchase?

Not to mention, I bill at $90 an hour at my job. You've already eaten $10 of my time... so again, you want me to work for free and give you the program? Is that "the right thing to do?"

If you'd take a moment to read the help file and then ask me a pointed question, I'd be glad to help you. And that's service almost no one provides. So no, I don't feel bad at all standing behind my current policy. Thanks! -Sean

2008-03-17 — 6.6.4 is out and fixes a few more smaller issues with 10.5.2 specifically, as well as a couple issues on Windows Vista.

2008-02-17 —Apple just released one doozy of an update - 10.5.2. Weighing in at 1GB in size, it fixes many issues in Leopard, but broke some of the dialog boxes in CALC. Today I released 6.6.3 that fixes that issue.

2008-01-10 — Those new Mac Pros sure do look nice don't they? Tell your friends and family to pick up a CALC 6 license so I can save some pennies to get a Mac Pro to replace my aging Power Mac G5. Without an Intel based Mac, there won't be a CALC 7. CALC 7 will be Intel native and I need a real Intel Mac to make that happen... help a Mac brother out... and remember who has been releasing blue plate special dirt cheap Mac and Windows software for 12 years without upgrade fees, without subscription fees, without limitations on what you can do with it...

2008-01-01 — Sometimes you just have to laugh. Some bloke posted, "CALC isn't an auction listing creator, it creates HTML" on one of the Mac shareware sites. Derogatory like, and influencing other people. Fact is, the public is dumb enough to read it and think, "this is bad!"

It's so sad. Pathetic really. Number one problem with dealing with the public, idiots and their Web 2.0 postings and blogs. Just because people write online doesn't make them smart OR worth listening to.

"Why's that?" you ask. EVERY AUCTION SITE ON THE INTERNET DISPLAYS YOUR AD IN HTML. What else would an auction listing creator be other than some form of HTML generation tool? If it didn't do that, it wouldn't work.

Alas, people... 20 years ago you didn't believe everything anyone told you, why is that so different now that we communicate online? It boggles my mind and makes me laugh...

2007-12-26 — Wow, I can't believe the feedback I've received... seems a few people still rely on CALC. The issue with CALC 6.6 and it crashing on launch I believe has been resolved. I do not have 10.5 Leopard (waiting for the new Mac Pros) and it was not easy to test. With the help of several users, I believe we tracked down the problem. Download the latest build and give it a try. It should be OK. If not, CALC 6.5 is included and does run on Leopard.

Now, even more of you have asked me about supporting CALC and CALC 7. The fact is, I used to do shareware and freelance as my only source of income. It was fun and free but too wavy gravy for me to be happy. I took a great job doing design and it's much better than dealing with the public doing sales (more or less and sorry!). So, it takes longer for me to get to things. Again, sorry!

That said, the current iteration of CALC is also getting on in age, and I want to do something fresh. Until I get something new and cool ready, this revision of the technology will have to suffice. Some have moved on to other software and that's OK with me... I mean when someone threatens to use a different program, that doesn't make me feel bad... competition is good and if you are happy with program X, by all means, use it.

CALC, even in its old version, meets my target and achieves the goals I have. It allows you to make great looking ads, and that makes you more money. I know from thousands upon thousands of online sales. So, as long as it works for me, I hope it does for you. Use the contact form and shoot me a line if you need anything. Thanks again, -Sean
